Following the commission for participation in the exhibition Electrify Limbo at the PPC Factory Keratsini, I created a dazzlingly bright, perfect sphere that appears to hover above the remnants of a once-glorious era that has now passed. The remains, unified at the center with black tar-painted canvas directly beneath the sphere, create the impression that the “chaos” itself is being illuminated. The objects gathered below the sphere are findings from the factory — formerly functional items that have remained in the space.

The diptych work Light the Remains highlights the contradiction between the historical significance and the present-day perception of energy facilities after the cessation of their operation. While in the past they constituted central hubs of production and development, today they often remain as massive, inactive remnants of an obsolete industrial landscape.

The aim of the work is to raise questions about whether, how, and when the future of these monumental spaces will be illuminated once again.
